                                                    ACTIVE LAYER

In addition to displaying data layers and indicating whether they will be part of the map display, the Layer List is also where a user can nominate a data layer to be ‘active’.

When a data layer is ‘active’ it can be used in conjunction with the Advanced Tools . Only one layer can be active at a time. To make a data layer active the user must click on the data layer name. This will highlight the data layer as shown below.

This indicates that the data layer ‘ACT Electorates’ is the active layer.

Before a data layer can be used as the active layer (i.e. a selection can be made) it must be viewable on the map display (i.e.the box must be ticked and the REFRESH MAP button activated). The user mustalso have map display which is within the viewable range for that data layer. If this either of the above is not the case the following message will be displayed.

If this occurs then click the OK button on the warning message, zoom into your area of interest using the ZOOM IN tool, and repeat the selection.
