LAYER LIST
This component of the Map
Page provides a list of all the data layers available through ACT Locate,
along with links to metadata for each. When the map is first drawn the Layer
List is displayed showing the Group names only and the ‘Layers’ tab is
highlighted in Yellow. Adjacent to each Group name is a ‘+’ symbol. When the
user clicks on this symbol the Group will expand to display the available data
layers. A Group can be collapsed by clicking on the ‘-‘ symbol.
The Group ‘Maps and Imagery’ in its
collapsed state.
The Group ‘Maps and Imagery’ in its expanded state.
A tick box is associated with each Group and each data layer. When the Group box is ticked it indicates
that at least one of the layers is viewable on the map. When it is empty then none of the contained data layers is visible.

state showing that the Rivers and Creeks data layer is viewable on the map. |

the Group box only. |
Some layers are viewable by
default when the map is first drawn. The default viewable layers vary with the
scale at which the map is drawn and it may be necessary to re-establish these
for a particular draw scale if they have been tick off by the user, or the draw
scale has changed since the user last set them.
Clicking an empty box to
display the tick can make that data layer viewable on the map. A layer can also
be clicked to remove the tick and to stop the data layer being viewable on the
map. NOTE: THIS WILL NOT BE
REFLECTED IN THE MAP DISPLAY UNTIL THE USER CLICKS ON THE ‘REDRAW MAP’
BUTTON BELOW THE LEGEND.
There are over forty data
layers available in ACT Locate and these have been grouped to reduce the need
for a user to scroll through the full list. The table below details the data
layers available. Those highlighted in grey will be displayed on the map by
default, although this is scale dependent.
