LEGEND
This component of the Map
Page shows the symbols used for each of the data layers that are displayed
on the map. When the Legend tab is selected it is highlighted in Yellow. Only
those data sets from the Layer List, which have a tick in the display box
and are viewable at the draw scale of the map, will be represented in the
Legend. Where a data type is made up of points then a marker symbol is
displayed. When a data type is made up of lines they are represented by a Z
shaped line symbol, and where an area feature is depicted a coloured square is
used in the legend.

In some cases a data
set is depicted as a single symbol (point, line or square). In other cases the
data is classified according to one of its attribute fields and then a series of
symbols will be displayed.
The size of the text
and the presence of a title, help to distinguish between a single symbol data
set and a multi-symbol data set. The single symbol data set text, and the title
text for a multi-symbol data set, is of a larger font.

In
some cases the area symbol used is clear with only an outline colour. This
enables other data to be displayed under the data set.
The feature symbols are
listed in the order in which they are drawn, from the first data set at the
bottom to the last at the top.
A user can click on the
